Life Global passionately supports the mission to raise awareness and conduct screenings to eradicate Thalassemia.

Thalassaemia, a genetic blood disorder that impairs the life and life span of children with Thalassaemia Major is worse than a disease and has no plausible cure. The body does not produce enough normal haemoglobin, which leads to anaemia, deformities, stunted physical & mental growth and heart problems.

Marriage of two Thalassaemia Minor (Trait) partners can produce a Thalassaemia Major Child in 25 % probability, who would need regular blood transfusions from early age till the ultimate, untimely death.

Community awareness, screening test for marriageable youth, antenatal, & prenatal tests for pregnant mothers can forestall this disorder and prevent its spread to future generations. Circumvention of at risk marriages and averting birth of Thalassaemia Major Children remain crucial for prevention of Thalassaemia.

Recognized as Scientific & Industrial Research Centre (SIRO) by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, Life Thalassaemia Prevention Centre organizes massive awareness programmes and screening tests, provides counselling and free life support through continual supply of blood to Thalasseamia Major cases.

Village Ghed Bagasara was adopted and made Thalassaemia free through continual screening, monitoring and awareness campaigns and village Nichi Mandal has now been embraced with same goal.

Pledging to conduct 35000+ screenings tests annually, the Centre continues the crusade for Thalassaemia free society.

To strengthen the mission, a draft Thalassaemia Bill, proposing mandatory testing for marriageable youth and newly married couples, has been submitted to the State and Central Governments.

The initiative has reached over 1.5 million people imparting knowledge and caution. 720,129 marriageable youth have been tested, vulnerable cases have been counselled and 125 Thalassaemia Major births have been averted by March 2026.
