In an era when climate anxiety often dominates headlines, two small villages in India are offering something far more powerful: hope.

In the Mehsana district of Gujarat, Sankapura and Bhanpur have become inspiring examples of community-led clean energy transformation. What began as a local awareness effort grew into a solar movement supported by Amar Shah and Life Global Foundation, USA, working alongside local partners.

For years, families faced limited and unreliable electricity. While many recognized the benefits of solar power, cost and lack of technical knowledge kept adoption out of reach. That changed through community education and financial support.

Life Global Foundation contributed approximately $700 per household, while government subsidies added about $830, making solar energy affordable for local families.

Today, 160 solar systems power homes across the two villages. Each installation reduces carbon emissions by an estimated 1.5 to 2 metric tons annually, resulting in a collective reduction of up to 320 tons of CO₂ every year. These villages demonstrate how local action can contribute to global climate solutions.

The impact extends beyond environmental benefits. Families now enjoy reliable electricity, lower energy costs, and greater energy independence. Some households even earn additional income by supplying surplus power back to the grid. Improved lighting has enhanced safety and quality of life, especially for women and children.

In phase two, from their credit on electricity bills and subsidies started installing induction cooking stove with two burners and water geyser in homes. This project is being completed in 25% homes. Even with these installation slor system is fully capable of generating enough electricity.

“This initiative has not only lit our homes but also opened new possibilities for our future,” shared one resident.

The success of Sankapura and Bhanpur shows that when community participation, local leadership, and institutional support come together, meaningful change follows.

As the world searches for climate solutions, these villages remind us that the future is not something we wait for—it is something we build, one ray of sunlight at a time.
