Life Blood Centre by Project ‘Life’, spanning 15000 sq ft, was established in 1981 as the first ever blood bank in Saurashtra, Gujarat, India and continues to be a leader in voluntary blood banking, employing scientific approach, advance technology and professional management in collection, testing, storage and deliverance of safe, optimal quality blood to patients in need. With 12 research papers published in national and international journals, the Centre organizes nursing training programmes in hospitals and conducts Post Grad Diploma in Medical Technology (PG-DMLT) in affiliation to Saurashtra University.

The state-of-the art facility, supporting 200+ hospitals, is NABH accredited and is recipient of the prestigious ISBT Award for Developing Country 2020 from the International Society of Blood Transfusion, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Life Blood Centre operates as lifesaving link between voluntary blood donors and patients and adheres to contemporary industry standards for quality and safety. Considerable volume of blood is served entirely free of cost to un-affording patients and Thalassaemia children needing continual blood transfusions.

By March 2026, the Centre, working 24x7, has organized 6300 blood donation camps and delivered 782,213 units of blood and components, serving 469,328 lives.
